Like papa like baba

In the midst of all our park day photos I forgot to share these - like papa like baba

Tom supports Leicester City Football Club as that is where he was born and where his father is from. So that will be Wilf's family team (hence the matching outfits). However I think his local-ish team should be Forest Green Rovers a completely eco friendly and sustainable football team from Stoud. In fact with their organic and local food served to both players and fans at the the stadium (they took red meat off the menu last autumn and are moving towards first being completely vegetarian and then vegan football team) I would even go watch football!

These shots were taken around our local area, we took a short stroll out on Sunday so I could get my daily latte from the Thali and we could enjoy some more of the Spring sunshine. Tom took Wilf in the sling although i think we didn't get the front position quite right as he was quite a bit lower down when we got home? I keep wanting to use the sling more often but my back really hurts after a short while. I don't think it is the slings I am using as i've tried a few, I guess I really need to get my back checked out. I had quite a bad back towards the end of pregnancy and I think my posture and the way I pick Wilf up isn't helping much. Must look after myself a bit better as a broken mama doesnt help anyone!
Wilf is still teething off and on (last night we only got about two hours straight sleep at a time which felt like newborn days) Wilf has been sleeping on my tummy as the only way to settle him. I dont mind too much really as I was starting to miss it the cuddles :)
My friend recommended the following:
'Try 1 drop of chamomile or lavender essential oil (helps relieve pain, temps, calming and anti-inflamatory) in 15ml base oil - try to avoild almond incase of nut allergy (do a patch test on the inside of his arm first and wait 24 hrs to check no reaction) you can use it for massaging his body, also rolling toes and fingers between a finger and thumb and squeezing the tips (a sinus point) if he is blocked up and snuffly with the teething....also gently draining from either side of nose down under cheek bones with fingertips can help drain sinus and unblock) rub the gums through the skin with a fingertip in little circles, and massage the hinge of the jaw in a circular motion to help relieve tension from biting down all the time....put 4 fingers under chin and thumb under bottom lip, draw thumb and fingers towards each other to meet at tip of chin and help jaw release - If you don't want to use essential oil to massage can put couple drops in bowl of steaming water (out of his reach obviously!) and leave in his room for half hour'
I bought some chamomile today so will give it a go and let you know how I get on. I really believe in the benefits of essential oils, the ones I used during labour (lavender and clary sage) really centred and calmed me so its worth a try!
Have any of you guys tried methods like massage and essential oils for things like teething? I'd love to hear about your experiences!

My artwork and copying..maybe

Tom asked to look at my Pinterest account last night. The website is pretty new to him and he wanted to how it worked and what I had pinned. I was showing him how 281 people had 'repinned' one of my wedding invitations and saying how that was nice because it showed that people must like it. There were a few comments below and I'd seen them before and not thought anything of it.
See the second comment down? Well I had read this like 'this would be perfect for you and craig' but Tom pointed out that to him it looked like 'this is ACTUALLY your and craig's invite'. Leading him to think someone may have copied it and changed the text. Then fourth comment down originally made me think 'Oh she's just seen someone with a similar style' but now I read it like she has actually seen this invite elsewhere.
I've been thinking about this most of the morning as its really worrying me. Coping the invite and changing the text would be easily done. The only way to try and make it harder would be to put a water mark on this image. I am hesitant to do this as I think it spoils the image, and I want to still share my work online as I'm proud of it.
The other thing that makes the thought of it upsetting is that this was a custom invite for my sister and brother in law's wedding. I do create custom wedding invitations and am working on one at the moment. The process is very personal, my client emails me their ideas and we go back and forth to work on it until I have created something unique and special for their big day. It confuses me as to why someone would want to use someone else's wedding invite as surely its supposed to be special to you?
That being said its not as if I have actually seen my work being used or copied somewhere else but the potential for someone to do that is there for sure. I know of many artists that I admire that deal with people stealing their work on a regular basis and I guess maybe I was naive to think no one would do that to me?
SO my dilemma is do I watermark all my work to try and prevent these things? It would be a pain if truth be told and in my opinion make my work look a bit ugly..
Thoughts on the matter? I would love to know xoox

Park day - part two

This weekend has been my favourite of the year so far. I love Autumn and Winter for knitwear and cosy nights in but my gosh the sun sure does help to lift your mood!

Wilf and I met up with my friend and her baby George (who is 12 hours older than Wilf) on Friday and whilst the sun shone we wondered what we had been doing this time last year. It felt like I hadn't experienced Spring in years, and the we remembered. We were both being hideously sick!

Honestly after 17 weeks I loved my pregnancy but morning sickness is an experience i'm not keen to repeat. That being said its a small price to pay for this little chubber and i'm sure I will do it again at some point in the future!

Now Wilf is three and a half months those first few weeks of (lets face) it extreme exhaustion and mood swings are like a distant memory. I even started thinking the other day that I hadn't found breastfeeding that hard at the beginning, ha! Lucky I have this blog to remind me. Although I now love it and am happy to continue until Wilf is ready to stop.

Yesterday we spent most of the afternoon at our local park and then my friend Dona came home with us and we caught the last of the suns rays sitting in our front garden drinking tea and listening to 6music. Today Tom took Wilf out to his sisters for a couple of hours so he could fix her tap, they called themselves Quinn and Son Plumbing Services. It gave me enough time to do some tidying upstairs and miss him before they were back and we could head out on a little stroll around our neighbourhood

My parents home and a bit more of Aberystwyth

My parents have moved house a lot in their time. When I was younger we would move house every year, sometimes move area too. I have lived in the South of England the West Midlands and the North of England as well as West Wales (where they are now). Since moving away to university I knew that when I returned it would be a different place but I now find that quite exciting. Every time I come home to visit I love to see their new space and how they have made it their home.
My folks have always bought their furniture and pieces for their home from charity shops and thrift stores. Over the years they have acquired a mix matched collection of pieces, each holding a story of their previous lives. I love that with 'vintage' items you are part of a chain in a story.
The photos outside are of the castle in Aberystwyth, a place I used to as a teenager spend a lot of summer afternoons. It is also the place where Wilf first experienced wind, he was NOT sure he liked it much.
note on door of my 15 year old sisters room 'tea at eight please!'
