The hair dilema

So I appreciate this is an incredibly #firstworldproblem...but I hate my hair. I've been sick of it for a while, months, years in fact..It's boring and I guess I've kept it boring as my life didn't really call for 'interesting hair'. My office job needed me to be semi smart and I was too scared to make any dramatic changes. Now whilst I am still on maternity leave I'm thinking maybe this is the time to have a change? Also weirdly I don't think I've ever felt as confident since having a baby, and maybe its being used to being so very large when I was pregnant but I'm feeling more confident in my body and trying new styles too.
SO I have a hair appointment booked in this Wednesday (when Tom who has the rest of this week and the next off) can look after Wilf. I am going for the plunge and doing something completely different..and that is..dying it bright red! Also I am having a short straight fringe and a bit of the length..what do you think? Good idea or not? Have any of you got any tips for having bright hair? (Polly I'm looking at you here! ;))
xoxo

NOOOO! Don't do it. Your hair colour is beautiful. Have a good cut, yes to fringe and a bit shorter. But RED HAIR! I know you are young and can get away with it, but really? Bright red? Most mums when their babes reach 6 months go through the 'I am more than a mum thing'... (we all have done it). I LOVE your hair... it's pretty. x

Hello dear!! Thanks a lot for your visit and kind comment on my blog! Would you like to follow each other??
Concerning your question for hair advice I really love red hair as long as it looks natural and is not TOO red.
On the other hand , I would go for a fringe but more a layered than a straight one. You're face is quite square and to soften it is better to play with layers!
Hope to have been helpful!!

I feel like that time to time with my hair too! and I was actually initially thinking that you could dye your hair red! I've dyed my hair red and now want a change, but since red is such a stubborn colour I have to grow it out instead of colouring over, because it just comes through! But I'm glad I did have red hair because I loved it :) xxx
ps would recommend getting a hair mask/good conditioner for coloured hair!

@lou haha in a way I totally agree with you and its what Tom warned me of! I think every new mum gets the this stage 'where's my identity!?' and I know I'm falling into the same trap but on the other hand, If it looks awful I'll just re-dye/grow it out and you only like once etc x

@anna yep I think it will need a lot of maintenace, so a good hair mask will be a must! x

Ooooh, bright red is so exciting! I've actually been thinking of doing that myself...I recently was also feeling really bored with my boring hair that I had all my life, so I chopped it into a bob. Never once have I regretted it and I'm so pleased I did! Hair changes are good :)

Do it!

1) it sounds fun
2) you can totally pull it off
3) it's hair, not a tattoo so won't matter if you change your mind again later down the line
4) and lastly, life is simply too damned short to worry about what others think. It's your hair, if you want a change then by all means red it up beybeh!

Whatever you decide, have fun with it and post pictures!

Well, seeing as I have bright pink hair, you probably know what I think! ;)

I did the opposite when I had the boys and stopped dying my hair pink and let the natural red grow back again. It was only when I realised that I was never going to go back to working for other people ever again that I decided that enough was enough and went back to pink again!

I'm dying my hair mermaid blue this summer... ;)

I had bright red hair for 6 months last year :D it's great fun but be prepared to by shouted at in the street (not all the time, obviously, but it does happen) and stared at quite a lot.

Anyways, After lots of trial and error I settled on Only washing my hair twice a week max, and using dry shampoo inbetween when needed. Daddy-o shampoo from Lush kept it nice and bright and is vegan friendly, aand I used Retread conditioner from Lush too, but Aussie 3 minute miracle was a nice treat sometimes too.

:D cant wait to see photos if you do go bright red!!!

Oh yes, Wilf was very keen on my pink hair! He'll be pleased as punch with your new colour! :)

For the record, I've never had anyone shout at me in the street or anything like that although I do get the odd person staring IN ADMIRATION and tend to get besieged by 'I LOVE your hair' comments wherever I go. I also got woken up yesterday morning by a small child squealing 'That's where F lives! His mummy has PINK HAIR' beneath my bedroom window! ;)
