I was lucky enough to be sent a couple of products to review from the brand Elemis. Although I had heard of Elemis before I had never tried any of their products. Elemis kindly asked which two products I would be interested in and as a tired, achy, sleep deprived new mum I picked the 'Aching muscle super soak' and the 'Musclease active body oil' (anyone say bad back??) .
You may remember in this post I mentioned I was going for my first professional massage, well unfortunately that fell through so instead i persuaded Tom to give my back a rub (y'know as I had a review to do ;)).
Firstly the massage oil comes in a really nice looking glass bottle, whenever I buy 'treat' pampering products a big thing for me is the packing. I like to have 'pretty' products on display on the shelves in my bathroom and hide all the basic looking things in the cupboard. So this massage oil passed on the 'where will it live in my bathroom' test. It has pride of place on the shelf above the bath, so far so good.
The next test of course is the product its self, the bottle is designed to only release a couple of drops with every shake so you don't end up with tons of the stuff on your hands or body making you feel slimy. The oil contains a 'potent blend of stimulating maritime pine, sea buckthorn, sea fennel and rosemary in a skin-nourishing base to help ease muscle spasm and stressed joints'. The smell is really quite mild but pleasant and I found that after use my back and shoulders did feel less tense and a lot more relaxed.
I would definitely say I felt a difference to my back ache after using this product and will have to rope Tom in to giving me more back rubs in the future as carrying a eight month around all day does certainly take its toll on your muscles!

If I were to make one negative comment it would be that I would have liked the bath soak to be in the same beautiful glass bottle as the massage oil (but that's me being really picky). The bottle is huge and will certainly last a long time as you really don't need to put much in your bath for it to work.
'The Elemis Aching Muscle Super Soak is a deep-heat aromatherapeutic remedy is a powerful antidote to overworked, aching muscles, particularly after exercise. Energising and warming extracts of Birch, Juniper, Clove, Alpine Lavender, Wild Thyme and Blue Chamomile, combined with mineral-rich Sea Salt, ease tired muscles and recharge the body.'
The smell of this product is a lot stronger than the massage oil and immediately reminded me of (the one time) I visited a spa which a took as a good sign it had the right stuff in it!

I loved this soak, I could actually feel it warming and working on my tired muscles. When I got out the bath I really did feel refreshed and a lot less achy. In fact I would say out of the two products the bath soak really is the miracle worker but both genuinely really work, a must for tired and achy muscles!
