Our Weekend in Pictures 18/08/2012

This weekend we argued a little, made up, spent time outside in the park some time in the pub garden and some time by the paddling pool. It was nice.

AND we put Wilf's cot together.. not for him to sleep in during the night necessary but potentially for the evening sleep (what evening sleep?!) and naps during the day..which he doesn't really do either but either way its a place to put him when I need to go to the toilet at least.

We always intended to Co-sleep so we have never been in a situation where we have wanted him to sleep in the cot and had to get our heads around co-sleeping or anything. In fact its kind of the opposite. I think I had in my head that he would sleep with us for at least a year, I really believe in the emotional and physical benefits of sharing a bed with your baby. Lately however I have been feeling the weight of eight months (ten if you count the last two of pregnancy) of not having slept one full nights sleep. In fact of not of having ever slept longer than three hours in a row (there were those freak two nights where he did five hours but I kept waking up anyway).
The whole waking every few hours to feed for five minutes and drift off again were really not an issue. Actually sometimes when I would wake and look down and my little baby snuggled up and feeding in the dark of night when only him and me were awake felt very special. What I'm not so down with is this relatively new thing of him waking up and me having to get out of bed and rock him back to sleep thing, because that makes me tired and grumpy and stressed and leads to me being meaner than usual to Tom.

So what I'm saying I guess is we've put the cot up and we will see how it goes (although I will continue to bring him back to bed with me if he wakes in the night for the time being). If we get more sleep like that then great and if we decide its not working then we'll use it as a play pen for when I need the bathroom then that's ok too.

Now here are some cute pictures of my family, enjoy

We co sleep all night some nights, and have Penny's cot in her room which she doesn't mind and she starts off in the there. Sometimes she comes in by 12, others by 4.. sometimes she flat out refuses so we snuggle alll night. But it's been the best balance for us. xx

HA his face in that fourth one!! hes so funny.

yer, put the cot up even he doesnt sleep in it as the more mobile he becomes the more you will need somewhere to put him when you need to do something quickly and safely.

the day Dave learned to throw himself out of his cot was the day my life became chaos lol

I'm a fan of the jumper, too :).

And as for co-sleeping; I'd always intended to go down that route, too...turns out my son didn't intend on that! Ha.

@penny I know what you mean, I think I need to have a balance and get my head around not just putting myself in the 'co-sleeping or not co-sleeping' box! x

@lil isnt it amazing?? I dont know where he gets these faces from!
OMG I hope Wilf doesnt do that for a long time! And yes you are right, good just for somewhere to put him when I need the toilet even! x

@cara its so cute isnt it (mini boden) and yes it may turn out that Wilf now sleeps better not co-sleeping! I think I need to stop trying to put myself into boxes of what kind of parenting we are doing.

Aww, what lovely photos! It looks like Wilf is having a lot of fun at the park :) And good luck with the Cot!

Absolutely! No need to be in a box (a cardboard box *dances*) .. Though sometimes I find myself doing the same with other things- this mama stuff can be confusing hey! but yes it does give me a bit of a 'break' so that I can enjoy snuggles later during the night when she needs me. Having said this, Penny decided tonight would not be a night like that.. and is now asleep on the floor holding onto my foot (i put her there!) because she *needs* to touch me ALL the time, and Im not ready for bed yet.. compromise! LOL (p.s, I emailed you back, don't worry if your busy.. I just worry my emails don't work sometimes! xx)

We're doing exactly the same Fritha (I definitely thought we'd all sleep at least in the same room for the first year, but I think we kept waking D up all the time with creaky floors when we went to bed!)- Delilah starts in the cot then comes in with us in the end, it's kind of working out. She flat out refuses to sleep anywhere but on me or in the pram in the day though! Hope it's going well for you xx
