We like to read 06

A Comic and Curious Collection of animals birds and creatures by Bobbie Craig -1981

I just love the bright colours and unusual illustrations in this ABC book. I find it amazing that this book was printed before I was even born and that now I am reading it to my son 32 years after it first came out.
I actually only realised how old this book was as I started to write this and part of me panicked that it is often left on the sofa and maybe not treated as a vintage book should be..but then I thought that the way it should be treated is as it was intended, with enjoyment! (that's not to say we let it get ripped or anything btw).

Aren't the illustrations just fantastic? And it makes such a change from 'A is for apple' etc etc. I love the crazy merry go round of monkeys and mongoose's.

What books are you reading with your child this week?
I found myself reading a Shirley Hughes book this morning quite without realising that Wilf had toddled off half way through and I was just reading it to myself. Proof of a good book I think!

I was thinking perhaps of making this a weekly thing, and that it might be nice to see what we have all been reading to our kiddos that week? Would you be interested in taking part? xo

A weekly post sounds like a great idea! Although ebony is obsessed with a handful of books so my posts would probably end up quite repetitive! This book looks amazing by the way. X

Mental illustrations I love it.
A weekly join in sounds like fun. Although like Fiona mine might be repetitive - I have ahard time convincing Stan to read different things at the minute. Totally obsessed with two books. Both great, but still!!!

What amazing illustrations, love it! Shirley Hughes too! I've just discovered your blog through Kat Got the Cream....a weekly post sounds great. My eldest, Delilah (2) is a book fiend and so she works her way through the shelves until she's read them all! We've had to limit bedtimes to just 3 :-) Her current faves are I will not ever never eat a tomato, the snail and the whale and tabby mctat.

Fiona & Sarah hmm yes I know what you mean, might be a little, but I guess people could join in as and when? We have such a huge amount of books (thanks again parents!) that I think I could easily do a book a week for the next year or so! I hope you do join in, I love seeing what other people are reading their kiddos. And yes the illustrations are MENTAL! xx
