'A portrait on my child, once a week, every week in 2013'

'You love sorting and organising. You place the cotton reels in your own specific order so carefully and precisely'

There were so many moments this week I wanted to capture with Wilf, seeing the sun at last, playing in pub gardens, reading the paper with Tom (him with the supplement, intently scanning and turning the pages as if intensely interested in the article in question).

Somehow (maybe due to having too much for in the moment) all these moments were not recorded but sometimes it nice to put the camera down for a moment and just enjoy. Something I struggle with a lot...

This picture may not be the most beautiful but it captures a quiet moment and sums up Wilf's personality well. He is great with shapes and ordering, he has been able to complete small jigsaws for quite sometime and loves to stack objects in order of height or size and he will spend hours rearranging your rockery.

My favourite portrait from last week was the cheeky grin of Little Smith and his watermelon helmet!

Some times it is just so nice to enjoy the moment. You don't want to do anything but just watch them.

What a still, sweet picture. I am glad you chose this one as it captures a part of Wilf's personality that is integral to who he is!

What a sweet moment to capture. I still remember playing with my Mum's cotton reels as a kid. Like you, I struggle with running to get the camera or just soaking it all in. I've been trying to just relax & enjoy the moment sometimes x

I have slight de ja vous with this photo. My charlie used to play with toys in our fireplace hole. Each evening (when he was asleep) I used to set up his wooden animals with their heads facing the door, so when he came in in the morning he would have his friends smiling at him! x

Yes it is the moments that we will cherish such as moments like this. Some times we may take these moments for granted.

I tend to regret moments like this, but once I do sit back and enjoy times like this with my children, it is unforgettable.

I always struggle with when to put down the camera and when to document too, it's such a tough balance. Love how focused he is, and thanks for you praise of the watermelon helmet!

@little love - its very hard to strike that balance I think, and more so as a blogger where we want to record everything! Thats so sweet you did the same thing as a child! x
