Tigerlilly Quinn: desk space

desk space

Working from home is brilliant, I love getting home from the nursery run, clicking on the coffee machine, putting on some tunes and settling down to work. Before having Wilf I used to work in a very small office of only two other people so I've never really experienced the office social scene or had one to miss. I'm pretty focussed when it comes to my work days and not having a television certainly helps keep me away from distractions.

We have a two bedroom home so no extra space for an office, this means that for the most part any work I did would be on the corner of the dinning room table. The trouble with having a large table means we end up covering it in lots of bits and bobs, Wilf's things, our things, post that needs dealing with..you get the picture. We realised that we weren't actually utilising the table and would benefit from a smaller table to eat from and ensure we didn't use it as a dumping ground and get me a simple desk space for the alcove.

We bought this table top for £7 and attached it to some existing stands we owned. It's great as its small enough to ensure I keep the area clean rather than pile is high with tons of things like I did our previous one.

Add a vase of fresh flowers and I love my little desk space!

Do you work from home? Where are you able to grab a space? I'd love to know!

Love your blue table! Is that the actual colour or is it a cover?

So jealous of your desk :-) In our last flat we didn't have any room so I used to work at the kitchen table. Now we've moved to a bigger house, I still work at the kitchen table! Suspect if I had one I'd just pile loads of paper on though, but I can still dream x

Great little space. I have a little nook under the stairs for a desk, and do most of my crafts on the breakfast bar in the kitchen. A few more weeks and I'll have a studio again- so excited!

Great workspace, look so homely!
I like working in the kitchen or on the go, trains are the most productive for me (if I can stop myself people watching!)

Lovely, I love that you have one of your snow globes there too! At the moment, I work squished onto our stupidly large dumping ground of a dining table. I'm currently perched right on the edge next to a giant pile of cookbooks, some huge paintings Ebony did yesterday, and a couple of vases of wild flowers. Hopefully, hopefully hopefully, this time next month I shall have an office. Eek! x

I work from home too and have done for the past 8/9 years - it gets very lonely sometimes! We're extending up into our loft (currently live in a 2 bed house) which will give me an extra room to have my office and craft space (our old bedroom - we'll have the suite upstairs!)

In the meantime, I'm trying to sort out my desk area which is in the corner of our bedroom, so far I've pinched the old dining table and have a few pens thrown on it - everything is everywhere lol!

I love your area darling! I currently work from the corner of my sofa with my duvet ;) I do love sitting at my dressing table upstairs but my wireless signal is shocking and so i have to sit as close to it as possible x

Is the top from Ikea? I have it top if it is, bargain! I have just scrapped one of my sofas and put a desk in it's place and I find I;m getting much more done, although it's hard with two brats climbing all over me all day! x

I don't work from home, but had to comment - is that a Frances book on your mantelpiece? I used to love those books!

Great little office area. I just work sitting on the couch! Not great, but like you we are a bit limited for space x

Having your own space to work is fantastic - I hate having to clear everything away when I am in the middle of something to make way for tea time.

lovely space and you have made it work really well, I work from home and have one of the bedrooms as an office, keeping the 3 year old out is another thing though, she thinks it's hers!

We don't really have anywhere for a desk in my house, but I think it makes such a difference to your work mindset. I can't wait to make a little office in our new house and have a quiet place to escape too! And you've shown that it doesn't have to be a massive space either!

I love working from home too...I don't have a desk...just my laptop on my lap or on the sofa next to me - I wish I did though, your working space looks so lovely.

I love the colour of your old table. I just blog on my lap with my trust laptop but I would love a craft space so I could always have my sewing machine out.

That turquoise colour is gorgeous. I wish we could have designated work space

Eeek I am always stuck on a messy dining table, which then I have to clear away usually when the food is already ready............
Good on you having such a lovely desk.

What a lovely space, I need something like this as I'm using the dining room table and have to move everything at meal times. I love your notice board.

I really need a workspace which I can call my own. I adore yours however and I love the colour.

I work from home on my blog; I have to carry my work for school with me like a mobile office though... No space in our house and nowhere is safe from little hands! It's perched on the sofa for me :/ I love the colour of your table though!

We had a huge table in our old kitchen and I really miss it but I have to admit I don't miss having to tidy away everything that kept getting dumped on there. I'm going to be strict with the new small table and make sure everyone puts their own stuff away and doesn't dump it for me to deal with!

Me too when it comes to space. My office *ahem* is in my living room. I've just positioned the sofa, to section off that part of the room. I tidied my desk yesterday, couldn't believe the mess it had gotten in! Just need to find room for my cricut now...nice dilema though! Love your new desk area, it looks like the perfect work space! #loveyourhome The Ana Mum Diary

I love the home-made look about it as it makes it perfectly imperfect & chic.
