Working from home - what mama wore

Yet another one of those posts where I mention I work from home, (I work from home did you know?). I guess it's still pretty astounding to me that I get to do this, work at a job I love, that I created and that I'm passionate about. I get to plan my day around things I want to do at a pace I want to do them at. I know I'm really fortunate to be in this position and there isn't a week that goes by that I don't stop and take a moment or to to be thankful.

It's not without it's stresses of course and as a blogger I am often off on a train and this or that event which although fun can be super tiring too. I try to dress smartly on my 'work from home' days as I feel that if I look 'put together' it will help convince my brain to be 'put together' too (this does not always work). I know if I were to stay in my apartment pants (something Tom & I started calling joggers years ago and stuck) I would probably just be tempted to watch Netflix all day and get nothing done.

The outfit I'm wearing in these pictures is pretty standard of the type of clothes I wear on my work days. Something loose and comfy but hopefully tidy/smart-ish. I teamed by Yumi shirt and Marks & Spencer's trousers with this scarf necklace from the BHS allusions range to add an extra element to the outfit.

Do you work from home? What do you wear on your work days? Do you think it matters if you make an effort or not?

In association with BHS

Yes I work from home and always try and pull together something nice to wear. I have to do a school run before I start though. I wonder if I'd be so disciplined if no-one saw!

I used to work from home and I also found that it helped to get dressed properly :)

I work from home and I get dressed because I don't want to be in my PJs if someone knocks on the door :) Sometimes it's more casual than other days, but I try to find comfortable clothes that look good too.

Isn't working from home the best? I've just gone back into an office three days a week for the first time this year and it's been such an adjustment - I feel as if I've forgotten how to act with people around me! your desk area looks lovely

I have to get dressed... not sit around in my pj's all day!! else I'd never get anything done ha!

I wake up extra early to get dressed before my little ones get up and the rush begins. I work from home, and it doesn't happen unless I'm dressed to impress (even if it's just for me).

This is basically a gross admission but I find that I work a lot better (and have a better outlook on the world in general) if I have clean hair. The amount of days in the last 3 and half years I have spent thinking that dry shampoo will do the trick is too many. I really try to make an effort to have clean hair as it seems to help me work?! As for clothes, well I'm only just coming out of the head-fog that is being over weight and unhappy and accepting that I can wear nice clothes even though i'm not the size I want to be ... life's so complicated when it comes to how you look and how it makes you feel! (sorry for the brain spill. Its midnight and i've only just stopped working for the day!)

there are days when i don't get out of my pajamas, but if work needs doing or i have a deadline looming it's going to get done regardless of what i'm wearing! it does feel better to wear normal clothes though, even if it's something super casual.

I love this post, and I still can't believe I am lucky enough to work from home either. I sometimes have to pinch myself. I love your work from home outfit. x
