On displaying art

Coming from a background in illustration I love to adorn the walls of our house with art, in fact every birthday and Christmas I always buy Tom a special print, it's become a sort of custom. We have a feature wall in our living room that is constantly evolving, I love that it's not finished but just waiting for more pieces to fit.

I think because we are both so drawn to illustration we often forget to hang actual photos on our walls. I take dozens of photos each week and they get put up on this blog and then forgotten about. I'm not sure I really like seeing photos in frames though (I don't know, I'm weird!) so the only photos we actually have in our home (apart from our Instagram bunting) are two large canvas prints.

Getting your photos transferred into canvas prints is really easy and a lot cheaper than the process used to be. You can pick them up from for less than £20 nowadays, people always comment on our canvases and I think they are a really interesting addition to the room.

I also like the idea illustrated canvases like these ones. I think it would be a really neat idea to make your own version to with a scenic picture from your holidays with a favourite quote. It would make a much more interesting memento of your time away don't you think?

One of my favourite bloggers Elsie made this cute DIY for making you own canvas art, you see her post here.

Tom once made me a piece of canvas art when I had been away for the weekend, it was the sweetest surprise to return to (we now hang it in Wilf's room). I keep meaning to make some more of them with different lines from songs as they are such a fun idea.

What do you think of photos on canvas or canvas art?
