A little day out in Cardiff with our friends, click below to read more
I'm so in love with these pictures from our day out in Cardiff last week.
Myself and Laura had been noting lately that we were feeling in a bit of a slump. I don't know if it's the fact that the sun is now shinning daily (fingers crossed may that last!) but thinking of anything other than enjoying the outdoors leaves me a bit uninspired. It doesn't help of course when work needs to be done but I always think the best remedy for getting out of a creative slump is to just get out, get out the house take a walk, scrap your plans for the day and just recharge.
So that's what we did.
Wilf and I hopped on the train to Cardiff from our local station and within the hour we were there and heading for a quick babyccino/coffe stop before meeting our friends.
Laura's son (A) and Wilf had met before on a journey to London and it was so sweet how they remembered each other and got stuck into playing within minutes of reaching the park. Wilf is around a year younger and it was actually a brilliant age gap for a play date, he was more than happy to follow A's lead when it came to initiating games and when you are a child playing tag age really doesn't come into it all that much.
Wilf had brought his beloved mammoth with him on the journey so Laura suggested a quick stop to the museum to take a look at some of the dinosaurs there and also the model mammoths. Turns out the life-size animatronic dinosaurs are a little frightening for a two and half year old so we quickly headed to one of the learning spaces to read books and play with puzzles. I was really impressed with Cardiff museum and if it had been a rainy day we would have definetly have stayed longer.
As it was such a sunny day we headed back out to the park cafe for lunch and ice creams. The boys met a rather friendly squirrel (a little too friendly in my opinion, I'm sure he would have taken that ice cream right out of Wilf's hand there had we not backed off!) and played in the soil.
Wilf came home that day with a stick, a pinecone, a grazed knee, feet black from the earth and clothes covered in mud. Sign of a good day I think!
