For the Home - Culture Vulture

I was recently introduced to Culture Vulture, and whilst I need more homeware like a hole in the head I couldn't resist snapping up a few items.

I thought these soaps were the prettiest things ever. Tom gets a bit annoyed that I buy soaps in this form rather than the squeeze the bottle ones as they do tend to get a bit messy in the soap dish but they look so much nicer! What's more they smell actually amazing, Wilf kept asking to smell each one individually. Fig was probably my favourite scent.

These measuring cups were an immediate buy for me, I had been using my granny's plastic ones from the 60's for quite some time but one or two have recently gone missing (or rather since Wilf ran off with them for some game or another) so it felt like the perfect excuse! A lot of recipes I use are from blogs and lots of them american so I do tend to use measuring cups a lot in my cooking. Also how darn cute are they??

Lastly I fell in love with these cute little bowls. I've always loved the Moroccan style table wear and love the prints used on these. I also love that they come in a mix match set, nothing in our home is matching which is perfect for us.

What I love about the site is you can filter the items by place as well as function so you can choose 'Paris' for example or 'Scandinavia' or 'Morocco'. I picked up some thick spanish drinking chocolate from the spanish section as it reminds me of our holiday in Barcelona as well as working in a spanish style deli as a teenager. I've yet to drink it as it's been so hot but will be perfect for cosy Autumn evenings!

we were sent these items c/o Culture Vulture but all words and thoughts are my own

How gorgeous! I really NEED to smell those soaps now! I have to treat myself to soaps like that now and then. When pregnant I always wanted to eat them though! The measuring cups are so sweet- I want full sized bowls with those prints now! :-) xxx

Oh my god, how nice does everything look?!

Wish I had some money spare because I could seriously do some damage.

I'm the same with bars of soap - I love those old French ones you find at antique fairs! You and homewares make me laugh - they're like your achilles heel! I'm resisting clicking through to the website until I get paid, I know those soaps will get me!

I have french soaps like that too (some that I bought years ago in Tunisia and Morocco). I'm finally getting round to using them because they are bit bashed now but I still love the colours. I really like the bowls too, look a bit like something from Anthropologie (which is never a bad thing!).

I can't stop buying soap - I use it to keep the moths away from my clothes and keep them smelling nice so the more the merrier I always think :)

P.S. I want that watermelon bowl lol

It must have been a tough transition for you at that age, I can't even imagine. Aberystwyth is such a beautiful place and full of happy memories for me but I can understand your own personal feelings when it holds some darker memories. Enjoy the beauty and take in the sights as you all prepare to say goodbye to Cardigan Bay xxxx

i haven't been to aber in years! these photos are beautiful :) it's so weird going back to somewhere associated with bad and mixed memories and feelings isn't it. hopefully some growth has come out of it though!

I'm from Aberystwyth and go back semi regularly. It's a funny, cute place. I think it's a strange feeling tho to know you probably won't go back to somewhere. Hope you had a good weekend.x

Stunning photos captured. What a lovely place but I can imagine it was a tough transition at 13! Bless you. Good to make happy memories to over wash the bad ones there. #ordinarymoments

Goodness wherever you were in England that must have been quite the move, I'm not surprised it wasn't smooth sailing but I'm glad you got to share the good memories with Wilf; and he certainly looks like he's having a blast!

These are gorgeous photos and they really do capture a moment. I haven't been back to my home town, where I grew up for years...I kind of think it might be better not to go back, for me at least. Nice you got to say goodbye to it though.

I'm sure I often say it, but these are such lovely photos! I have fond memories of my home town, but I don't get back to visit my friends often, especially since I became a mother. It's nice to return but does feel odd at times though! #ordinarymoments

Beautiful photos! I don't visit home often either. It doesn't ever quite feel the same and makes me realise how settled I am, where I am. x

Sounds like you had a lovely time - well Wilf did thats for sure. It's always a strange thing saying goodbye to somewhere that holds mixed emotions - that has happened to me on more than one occasion and I can't explain the slightly off balance feeling you get when you turn you back on somewhere that holds some much good but also bad memories. Really love these beautiful photos :)
