Tigerlilly Quinn: Life lately - bits and peices

Life lately - bits and peices

When I was little I felt there was very much a disproportion to the amount of toys I had to the the amount of toy my younger siblings ended up having. I had one Barbie I had collected Weetabix tokens for and by the end of my childhood she also had a buddy in 'hippy Paul' (a relation to Ken who had ripped shorts and long hair) a Sindy and also Skipper (Barbies kid sister). My younger sister then went on to have no less than 42 Barbies by the time she was finished with such things (although this was some five years after me).

Likewise I had a few Sylvanian Families, I remember taking them with us when we lived in Spain for a short while, there were a few rabbits and a tiny baby rabbit with a rocking cot and definitely a hedgehog or two. I loved them so much and have very vivid memories or sitting on baking hot steps playing with my little animals in the dusty surroundings. Again my younger sister seemed to end up with quite a lot more and even had the holy grail of Sylvanian treasures, the House Boat!

Now I've kinda gotten over that injustice I'll move on..

Wilf was given this rabbit family along with a camper van recently and it was a real joy to see how much he immediately loved them. Although he did say that they didn't need clothes and made me take them off them pretty much straight away. Every morning as I made his breakfast I find him here on the carpet like this. They are his first set and I hope his collection grows a little more than mine did, maybe he'll even inherit the House Boat one of these days ;)

Moving on:

I sometimes feel bad for not sharing the photos I take on my iPhone more so here are a few that made me smile over the past few weeks.

Grabbing a hat and playing the fool in TopShop whilst Tom looks for a waistcoat for the wedding!

Raiding my jewellery box, a regular morning occurrence

Because these dungarees are always going to be cute

Hiding in the clothes again in Next and also this jacket for his wedding outfit! The Care Bear will hopefully not be attending.

And lastly, skipping down the street. Oh how I love this little boy

Thanks for letting me share!

The Sylvanian's were sent to Wilf for this post but all words and thoughts are my own

There are rarely pictures of my husband and I as I take most of the photos in our house, although the children, especially my five year old, are starting to take some pretty good shots now. I really like your first pic with Tom though as you look so natural in it. Cant believe its only 7 weeks away. Are you organised?!

Oh I adore that last skipping image. I never had Sylvanian families as a child and wish the boys had them, but alas, it wasn't to be

Is that an owl backpack or waistcoat Wilf is wearing in the last photo? It's gorgeous.

We have so many Sylvanians, they basically have their own small town in our flat. Belle still plays with them loads though, many of them used to belong to me and my sister.

If it makes you feel any better I never had any Sylvanians and I always secretly rather hankered after them - fortunately my Mother in Law who stores everything in her attic has ensured that Kitty and Elma will never suffer the same fate and they love playing house with what must once have been their Auntie's collection!

Ha I love the sound of Hippie Paul!! I only had one Sindy if that makes you feel any better. Anyway, these photos are just lovely - my kids have an obsession with my jewellery box too.

I LOVE Wilf's style!! My daughter loves her Sylvanian Families, as does her twin brother :) and I have many fond memories of my eldest raiding both mine and my Mum's jewellery box!

:) Lovely post! Love the photos too. They are fab! I never had sylvanian families growing up - yes I know poor me! I definitely want Noah and Isla to have some though as I think they are brilliant. xx

I'm a total hoarder and my Sylvanian collection is still in my parents' attic. I had hundreds of them, I was totally obsessed with them. I want to get them out again and display them but wonder if that's a bit odd.

That photo reminds me a lot of the first picture of Chris and I. Unfortunately I lost most of our early days photos when my laptop died, but luckily we had printed out one for our US immigration file (along with copies of letters, travel documents, and other 'evidence of our relationship') I hated having to do the immigration stuff, but it has been nice to go back and look at stuff that might have been tossed out. Guess that's when you know someone is for keeps, when you actually keep the little, insignificant stuff. Also, it looks like Tom hasn't changed at all in these two pictures.

I love this. Some of Clara and my first photos together are awfully blurry, but because they hold memories, they are some of my favourite.

He is so adorable, I love these pictures. He looks so dapper in his little posh jacket. I can't wait to see the wedding pictures :) xx

Aw that's lovely...we found an old passport photo machine when we were in Exeter a week ago and all 5 of us piled in for some photos which I love (even though in many of them you can just see one of our eyes or a bit of head!!). Good luck with all the rest of your wedding planning...exciting times!!

My goodness! These are such cute pics! I don't remember who had more between my brother and me so that probably means that I had more! I'd never heard of sylvanian families before becoming a mother. Now I really want Santa to get them for Talitha. And that Topshop pic perfectly illustrates why I won't take Talitha shopping anymore! She keeps hiding in clothes!

It's lovely to stop and take the time to have a photograph taken together. The only photos of me and my other half were taken at our wedding, it's our 5th anniversary next week, so time for a new one I think!

Your boy is so adorable! I'm expecting my first baby in September, a little boy too and I can't wait to share little experiences like those with him in the future :-)

The camera is so much better that the iPhone and I love the way it fits so much into the frame. In fact my iPhone camera is even worse now after using that one all weekend! Gorgeous pics x

Such a lovely post. It's the blurry old photos that are the absolute best and mean the most :) x

I have been finding that I have been using my iPhone more than my actual camera recently so love this post. And those dungarees are just the absolute cutest.

I need to start doing this. We don't have many photos together and the thought of regretting that fact if Ant goes before me makes me really sad. I love your first photo. You both look totally happy :) xx

Wow I am really impressed with the quality of the images from the Samsung - I was really apprehensive when I first heard of this camera but actually seeing the results I have changed my mind. I love Wilf's face - such a cute tiger and I really hope he feels better soon and never feel helpless Fritha - they all go through these fazes. I agree with London as well - keep thinking "why are we not living there?"

I want to do this! Well, I have no partner. Just idiot, cheating to-be-ex-husband but I want to do this with my son. Because children grow so fast. I'm always scared how fast he's growing and I want to remember him and those moments in time when he's all grown.

I really ought to join in with this - there is a distinct lack of photos of my husband and I together, we are always taking photos of each other with the kids x

Globalmouse said...

Ah I love that wedding jacket - adorable! And we are a big Sylvanian family house too...I was always sad to have never had them when I was little so it's great to be able to indulge myself now via my children!! ;)

Jess@AlongCameCherry said...

Ah I love the photo of Wilf in his wedding outfit, he looks adorable! I always wanted Sylvanian family stuff when I was little, I was never allowed though! x

Such a lovely post. We only had a few Sylvanian's because they were to expensive. I wanted them all haha!! :)

I love your photos! I still have my Sindy and my 'Action Girl' along with a few 1970's clothes including purple crochet trousers and a knitted wedding dress. Wilf hiding in the clothes reminds me of my two boys when they were little and did exactly the same thing!

Laura Rocksteady said...

I really need to get round to joining in with this as it's such a lovely linky - especially since we never have photos together and this is a great way of making sure we do. I really love your photo this month as well as there first one of you too - so cute, I love that it's not perfect and blurry - it's perfect

Looks like you had a fab weekend and the picture quality is amazing! The colours really pop and it's all very sharp. Also totally loving Tom's badge and your little tiger! x

Oh my gosh! Sylvanian Families! I used to love mine when I was little, the rabbits were always my favourites but they seem to have all sorts these days. xxx

Your photos are amazing! I really must take a leaf out of your book and not shy away from carrying the DSLR everywhere.
