Smoothies

I've gotten a bit addicted to smoothies, wanna hear more? READ ON my friends!

vitamix, healthy recipes, smoothies
Iced latte / raspberry smoothie / spinach and banana smoothie / blueberry smoothie and beetroot and banana smoothie.

See how much the beetroot stained my fingers in that last shot? It's a powerful stain that stuff but makes such an amazing colour!

We recently got a Vitamix so I have been making smoothies almost daily (and that I have been obnoxiously uploading to IG too, sorry about that folks! ;)). It's been a lovely ritual to mix one up after breakfast and share a glass with Wilf as we slowly get ready for our day.

As well as smoothies I've been experimenting with soups too. I made this carrot one in around 5 mins which is pretty impressive and totally beats the standard unhealthy fast food! What's amazing about the Vitamix is that it's not just a blender, it can chop, blend, heat, grind, churn and chill! I've also been enjoying frappuccino's and cocktails with it (and if that isn't a good sign of a product then I don't know what is).

I'm hoping to share with you some of the things I make with it and hopefully some nice recipes to share too. I'm already thinking about a breakfast smoothie for tomorrow morning. One thing I think has really helped to make me prepared to always have yummy ingredients in the house is to buy my fruit frozen. That way I have a freezer draw full of blueberries, raspberries and other yummy stuff! I also want to start to use it to mix up some savoury treats too like hummus and nut butters. You can take a peek at some of their veggie and vegan recipes here too if you like.

Do you have any great smoothie suggestions I try?

My friend works for Vitamix and is always telling me how amazing they are in that they can heat and cool! I have all those Ikea cups and glasses too, they were such a bargain! x

Your smoothies look tasty (as does all your lovely crockery, I spot Ikea). I bet it's doing you both such a lot of good too. I must make some more.

I've got a big broccoli stalk in my fridge just waiting for something like a Vitamix to turn it into something healthy and delicious.

I would love to get a Vitamix one day. For now I manage with my hand blender. We sometimes have smoothies as breakfast and I add nuts because they help you feel full longer. Avo is also great to make the smoothie really creamy. I tried banana ice cream for the first time this weekend and I was really impressed. It's just blended frozen banana and I added a bit of soy milk and vanilla.

Next time we meet, you have to make me one of these! I can never quite get the perfect radio of ingredients, especially if I've added vegetables :( but these look really tasty!
