Wedding invites

Squeal! As a self-confessed stationary addict getting out wedding invites done was something I have been beyond excited about.

We decided to have a very short engagement (as in less than three months!) so we kind of invited our friends and family within the first week of being engaged. I'd sorted the venue and booked the registry office within around 5 days so we turned to email and FB to make sure people would be around on the date in question.

Even though we knew the essential people could make the date within a few days I still really wanted to send out physical invites. I'm a stationary addict so it's no surprise that I love a good illustrated card. Before Wilf I actually used to design wedding invites (you can see some here) so I kinda of thought I should make my own.

After two days of illustrating and getting pretty stressed about it not being 'right' and pretty much not enjoying the process at all I learnt two things. I'm glad illustrating is no longer something I try to rely on for an income and it's OK to delegate.

I was getting so worked up thinking that people would 'expect' me to design and illustrate my own invites when actually I doubt anybody would even care! I also realised that planning a wedding in under 3 months as well as being a mum and running a business means that I can't do everything from scratch or by myself.

Thankfully this is where Wedding Paper Divas stepped in! Just when I was debating for the millionth time about what I should do with invites make them myself/commission someone/not have them at all an email popped in my inbox asking if I'd like to take a look at their collection. It was a sign maybe! Anyway, after taking a look I narrowed it down to 8 of my favourites and asked Tom what he thought to, this design was both of our favourites. It also fits our Autumnal wedding theme perfectly!

Wedding Paper Divas has a really wide range of designs to choose from and they stock invites, save the dates, thank you cards and much more. I also have to admit to 'oohing' a little bit when I discovered that Whitney Port had just designed a range for them (yep I was a The City fan and I'm not even ashamed to admit it).

The stamp we got made separately. Funny story, when I first started this blog it was to share my artwork and I soon stuck up friendships with other illustrators and illustration bloggers. Kozue was a blogger friend from those days and I knew that if I ever had an occasion I wanted a custom made stamp it would be from her! I'm so glad I've finally had the chance to purchase one of her wonderful creations. You can see her work here.

And so invites are out, 6 weeks to go!

p.s I had to wipe out some of the info on our cards as you never know who will rock up to your wedding if you put those details online right?

This is SO beautiful! I've got serious invite envy! I kind of wish we had had a 3 month engagement, hopefully you will stay excited for the duration and not become sick to death of it like I did after nearly 2 years of planning!
