How to choose the perfect pushchair

this is a collaborative post

There is certainly no shortage of pushchairs on offer for you to choose from these days. On the one hand, this is great as it means you should be able to find the ideal version for you, but on the other hand, perusing the array of pushchairs may be enough to make your head spin.
Here are some top tips to take the hassle out of choosing the perfect pushchair.

Your lifestyle
Firstly, you’ll need to consider your lifestyle. For example, if you rely on public transport a lot to get around, compact and lightweight folding pushchairs may be best. Bear in mind it’s now possible to purchase models where the seat unit folds away.
Alternatively, if you mainly use a car to travel, weight is less likely to be an issue. However, you must measure your boot to ensure the product you select fits in when folded. Also, if you use your vehicle regularly, it’s worth checking out the multi-function travel systems now available. These comprise both pushchairs and infant carriers and they make it easy to move your baby from your home to your car and into a pushchair without causing him or her to wake.
If you do a lot of walking, look for a robust model and bear in mind that fixed-wheel versions make handling over rough terrain easier, while swivel-wheel pushchairs tend to be easier to manoeuvre.
Your options
Once you know what to look for, you can decide on a style of pushchair. You may decide to get a three-in-one pram and pushchair product, which includes a carrycot and a pram/pushchair. Other options include pushchairs with lie-back seats or reclining bucket seats, three-wheel pushchairs that are perfect for rough ground or jogging, and prams that allow your baby to lie flat. Buggies and strollers offer another alternative. These lightweight products are simple to use and, providing they have a lie-back function, they are suitable for newborn babies.
Whichever style of item you think may suit you best, don’t leave your decision too late. Testing these products out when heavily pregnant can be difficult. Also, bear in mind that it’s possible to bag a bargain by opting for last season’s designs at sale prices.
