I was recently asked to tidy up my bathroom..and not even from my family this time (although bathrooms are Tom's territory usually). I have mentioned many many times before on this blog that cleaning and tidying is just not one of those things that come naturally to me or Tom. I would love to be one of those people who couldn't relax until the carpet was hoovered, I really would. Alas I am not.at.all.

For the most part the only time our home gets a good tidy is when people are going to see it. Any if I need to take pictures for the blog, in fact having a blog is probably one of the main incentives of ever having a semi-clean living room. Remember when I had to tidy our bedroom? It took about four days!
So Viakal challenged me to try and make my bathroom a bit of a nicer place to be. There isn't any helping our shower I'm afraid it's just so old and rubbish the only thing to do is to wait until we have the pennies to replace it (it only has one heating setting now, basically you turn it as high as it can go and hope it stays warm for a few minutes).
I could try and clean up a bit and make it a bit calmer though, so that's what I did. I found so many odd things in our bathroom shelves including about 5 different necklaces I though I'd lost and some blackboard paint.
Cleaning in my jammers, naturally.
I'm never going to be one of those people who have a white bathroom and clear shelves. I love colour and I love 'things' but I did mange to sort it all about a bit better and remove about two bags full of things that didn't belong in there.
There's nothing worse than taking a bath in a room that isn't all that clean though so it's certainly inspired me to give things a wipe everyday. Tom and I have lived together long enough to have our pet hates on each other, mine is him leaving toothpaste in the sink (he's got so much better at this) his is that I leave cupboard doors open everywhere I go (I just forget to close them after I've taken something out, weird!).
We tend to leave rooms in our house to get to a point where we need to 'deep clean' or spend a whole weekend tidying and I hate that. Such a waste of time, I really want us to be able to do bits each day to be able to keep on top of it all.
I have to admit since sorting and cleaning it all I've been much more inclined to spend time in there and with the weather changing I've been taking long baths in the evening and lighting candle's bliss!
Thanks for making me clean my bathroom Viakal ;)
