A friend of mine emailed me the other day to ask when I was planning on ever showing people my engagement ring (sorry!). So here it is.
The ring was Tom's granny's passed down to his mum and from his mum to him for when the time was right. Apparently he did get it off his mum last year with preposing to me in mind and then gave it back her as I was being too mean to him, ha! Sounds about right, poor Tom ;)
Anyway Tom's granny had the tiniest fingers in the world so it only fit on my little finger. It's taken me a while to get it resized as it needs to go up so many sizes it basically needs a whole new shank in it. It's a lovely welsh gold which is pretty pricey though so I'm just getting 'regular' gold put in to make it bigger. We finally found a reasonable place in Clifton and it should be all done by this weekend so I can finally wear it! It's defo worth asking around as prices differed by £200 depending on the place we asked!
I've never really thought much upon what ring I would like as I never really considered ever getting married. I'm so glad that my ring is vintage and has been passed down through Tom's family. As soon as I saw it I knew it was perfect.
Although I never thought I was much a gold jewellery kinda person either I love that it is made from Welsh gold as it feels like showing part of my heritage too. It really is the perfect ring for me all round and I love the idea of it being passed down to one of our grandchildren one day!
Tom and I went wedding band shopping last week and have picked out our bands. I'm going for a super simple thin gold band as I want to stack it with my engagement ring and Tom's is a little more rustic. I'll show you a pic when we get them collected!
p.s you can read our engagement posts here and here and here.
p.p.s it's my bachelorette party this weekend!

Aww it's beautiful x
Oh gosh it is beautiful and so lovely that it's been passed down. xx
I love your ring, it is so beautiful, and so nice that it has been passed down. x
It's beautiful and it reminds me of my Nan's wedding ring x
I love that it carries with it so many memories
It's such a beauty! My engagement ring is vintage. It came from a cute little shop in Norwich. It was the only ring in there I like and was a perfect fit! :)
such a lovely ring! :)
What a beautiful ring. And it really suits you too.
It's such a lovely ring and i love the story behind it. I have a square shaped stone at the centre of my engagement ring too. Greig chose it himself and I was surprised at how much I immediately loved it. It's kind of nice to have a ring specially chosen for you, don't you think? My ring was new but I definitely want to hand it down to one of our kids too (but how do you choose)? Have a fab party - looking forward to hearing details xx
that ring is beautiful! I didn't have an engagement ring, as our wedding was totally spontaneous, but he did get me a second ring for our first christmas together :)
Love it! I'd love a vintage/antique engagement ring.
I really love your ring - so beautiful and unique. I really like the idea of having a vintage or passed down ring - I think they have more of a story and history to them :)

What a beautiful ring :)
Have a lovely hen weekend fritha. And the ring is gorgeous. I love the sentimental value behind it. My engagement ring is a platinum solitaire diamond as we don't have any special rings in our family, but it was in our pre baby days where we could afford such things. We never ever could now! X
thanks so much lovely! Maybe your ring can be the start of one to pass down to your grand kids one day! I totally get the thing about affording things before kinds, oh disposable income and no ties! x
aww thats lovely! x

me too, thanks! x
wow, fate! x
thanks Kelly! x
thank you! I think so too! x
I do think! ha I think if you only have one boy it's OK to pass it down to them to use to prepose to. My parents aren't married so none of that on my side! x
it's so lovely and romantic that it was spontaneous! x
me too, I was a bit terrified of having it though knowing it meant to much! x
I so can't wait to see this tomorrow!BEA-UUU-TI-FUL x
