The Flower Effect

The other day I had a knock on the door and a very cheery lady handing me this huge bouquet of flowers. I have never considered before how it must feel to work in a flower shop but delivering beautiful floral bunches of loveliness to people must be a pretty lovely way to spend your day.

When I was younger the only time I was bought flowers was when a boyfriend had done something to upset me and would turn up on my door a little sheepishly, bearing a sorry looking bunch of the ones going on sale. Thankfully since then I've been given a few from Tom for special occasions y'know giving birth stuff like that ;)

I'm a sucker for Instagram and have to admit that seeing beautiful flowers on my feed always makes me smile, and that just seeing a tiny picture of them on my phone. Having the real thing to smell at my desk as I type it so lovely and it's reminded me that I need to make the effort to have them in the house more often.

In actual fact I kinda knew I would be receiving some flowers but even so getting them almost felt like a surprise and certainly had a positive effect on my day! My flowers were sent by The Flower Council of Holland and you can find more about their 'flower effect' here. Also this cute video, don't you love the idea of passing on flowers to strangers?

In the last couple of weeks I've let Kitty choose a little bunch of pompom dahlias from the greengrocers next to our butchers and it's been so lovely having flowers in the house again - and they're little enough to survive the maelstrom of my children!

I am SO with you - receiving flowers brightens up any day. I have a slight bugbear though that when someone brings you flowers round, it would be nice if they also got a vase, trimmed the ends of the flowers and popped them in the vase. I don't know why, but I hate doing it. does that make me a massive ungrateful cow? (don't answer that!)

It's really funny but when I saw that lovely picture of the flowers I weirdly could smell flowers and it surprised me. How lovely to receive some flowers, i haven't received flowers for ages, but it always makes me smile when I do, and every time I look at them x www.stylemesunday.com

Those flowers look gorgeous. I love the smell of fresh flowers, as well as how they can brighten up a room and make you smile. Unfortunately, my cats don't appreciate them in the same way.
