Adventures

It's funny how parenthood changes you in ways you would never imagine. Pre-motherhood I was unsure of what I wanted out of life, I felt like I was treading water and almost 'waiting' for something to happen to me. I was surprised to discover a new found confidence since having Wilf and also a new thirst for life that I never quite had before. Now every day life is seen a little differently the way I did three years ago, spending your time with an inquisitive three year old will do that.

Now I find myself excited to experience new things and new places so that my son can experience them too. I realised this year what an amazing thing it is to travel with a child as we took our first holiday back in the Spring.

I think going on holiday with your loved ones gives you that chance for a bit of sanctuary, where you can forget about that email you need to send or jobs around the house that have been left on your 'to do' list for so very long and focus on what is the most important thing, family.

One of my favourite things about traveling with my son is feeling like I'm giving him one of the most important things in life an opportunity to see different settings and cultures. I love that I can pick up my camera and through my lens record moments that we will treasure forever.

Holidays remind us how precious life is. It's a magical time where rules are vague, bedtimes are later and ice creams are eaten almost daily. It's a time for adventures to new places, it's days spent lapping on suncream and finally getting a chance to read that book. It's laughing and joking and dipping toes into the sea, for sitting back, looking at your family and being reminded again just how lucky we are.

What gorgeous photos! We've never really travelled, or been anywhere either together or since children so I can't comment, but I know I would LOVE a holiday in the sun!

I'm totally with you on travelling with kids, it's great. Have done so since mine were just a few weeks old and the oldest at 15 has now been to about 25 countries. Travel broadens the mind and no one's ever too young to start. Lovely photos of Paris (where my 2 were born :-) )

I literally could have written that first paragraph myself, every word of it! I am so craving a holiday right now, I can handle until Xmas but after that is going to be grim! Good luck! xx

When I had my eldest I tried to wear mascara every day to make me feel good. When I had my twins (eldest was 14 months old) my challenge was to get dressed

These are such beautiful photographs, Fritha. I can really identify with experiencing a new thirst for life, having had children. They really have re-inspired me in so many ways.

We holiday on average once every five years, I kid you not. I'm completely exhausted and really value every moment we spend as a family when we get there. I hope you get on the team!

Could not be without a baby gym and bouncy chair in the early days. Both give me 5 mins to start dinner/put washing on/tidy up *delete as appropriate ;)

Oh such a cute post - I love these pics. When you have a little one everything seems to go crazy with "must have" items and really you only need very little - my mother got me book - homemade kids - which is not a craft book but simple advice on what you don't actually need to clutter your life with and having just a few basic items and lots of love is really it. I do loooove your bag - that is a must of course :)

I couldn't have done it without a couple of brilliant baby carriers, each fulfilling different needs. I absolutely love that tree wallpaper by the way.

that's exactly what my mum said and I got really annoyed as I wanted to be ready and have ALL THE THINGS I might need. I guess you only learn by your own experience. Hand cream is a good shout! x

My must have was a nursing pillow - you don'y realise how much your arms ache holding a newborn to feed
