A cruise around Norway?

You may have noticed the theme of my blog posts lately are all about a bit of escapism and wanderlust! After my evening At The Chapel chatting dream destinations and travel wish lists I've been pinning madly to my 'travel' board and hatching plans.

It's funny that before having Wilf travel really wasn't a big part of my life. I never really had that lust for adventure and dreamt only of settling down with my family. Becoming a mother has changed me in so many ways, I think it's near impossible to be the 'same person' as you were before. Having a child has made me want to show him new places, new cultures and all the possibilities life holds. It's made me more confident and more interested in the world around me.

Norway is one of my top places I'd love to tick off the list and I recently heard about Norwegian cruises. Wouldn't it be incredible to sail through the fjords and experience those stunning landscapes? I've been checking on 'Cruise Plotter' about where we could take a trip, it's a really interesting site that literally shows you everywhere in the world you can plan a cruise. Stopping at four different Norwegian desitations including Oslo which has been of interest to me for a while.

I've never been on a cruise before and for some reason hadn't thought about using them to explore scandinavian destinations. I think it would be a really interesting way to explore more than one destinations over a few days.

What do you think? Would you consider a cruise holiday? Where would you go?

I went to Norway this time last year and I loved it - we went on a tour around the Norwegian fjords from Bergen, such a fantastic trip and makes me want to get out and see more of Scandanavia.

I live in Trondheim (your last picture) and I cannot recomment a cruise around Norway enough. I wish to do it one day myself!

I would go to Norway again like a shot. Remind me to tell you about the toboggan experience next time I see you.

I'm expecting a baby in March and me and my husband have recently been discussing going on a Scandinavian cruise at the end of the summer - with the little one! We'd never have considered it before but think it might be a good way to go abroad with a baby. I've wanted to go to Norway for so long! Thanks for the Cruise Plotter tip, will definitely be checking that out!

G's always trying to convince me we should move to Scandinavia!! A cruise sounds great though - something I've been thinking about too :)

In answer to that question: Yes, please!!! I would love to take a cruise round Norway, indeed any of the Scandinavian countries (it's on my bucket list to see the northern lights with greig). Just look at those images - stunning!

I am a terrible sailor so there is no way I would go on a cruise! But I would love to go to Norway, these photos are gorgeous. We considered travelling round Scandinavia by train for our honeymoon but the £ was very weak then and it would have been way too expensive, not to mention not very restful. One day... My husband was quite taken with the Hurtigrurten (sp?) ferries that go round Norway that can form a kind of cruise if you stay on them.

I don't know about a cruise but I do know that Norway is just stunning - I sailed to Trondheim as part of the Tall Ships Race way back when in the teenage years and it was completely brilliant - so so beautiful sailing up the fjords - so if I ever were going on a cruise it would have to be on something small enough to get into the prettiest places!

Wow...I bet a cruise around Norway would be breathtaking- literally in winter! ha! But I would absolutely love to take a cruise one day- particularly with children. I think the whole idea of everything being in one place, catered for all and your pitt stops arrange sounds like the perfect way to enjoy it all as a family. I really hope we get to travel more one day...in the mean time I need to stop spending so much on homeware and make up! eek! x

I cruised the Norwegian Fjords with Cunard a couple of years ago and it was indeed breathtakingly beautiful.
