Tom is quite a romantic person in lots of ways. He's always so good with thoughtful gifts and takes real pride in making something all that bit more special. When we first started dating he would write me actual love letters with cute little gifts he'd find in the market like buttons and kawaii style jewellery.
He's done a bunch of romantic things over the six years we've been together (including proposing!) but I think my favourite was the time I moved back to Bristol to be with him and into a room of a shared house. He knew one of my friends I was moving in with and knowing I wouldn't have any furniture when I arrived or any money to buy any for a while he decked my room out in an inflatable bed and made handmade flowers in vases along the floor. It was the sweetest surprise.
You can read how we got together here.
Nowadays we don't have much time (or babysitters) for going out and being as 'care-free' as we used to be but I really don't mind it all that much. I've always been the type of person that likes a quite night in drinking wine and just chatting.
Tom and I took a coffee date on his lunch break the other day which is as close to a 'date date' as we get these days but I love them all the same.
I was sent this outfit by La Redoute which is a very nostalgic brand for me. When I was growing up the only two mail order magazines my mum would subscribe to would be La Redoute and Yves Rocher (I guess she liked french brands!). I would flick though the glossy pages every time it arrived imaging myself as a grown up able to wear those clothes. I would imagine what my life would be like and how I would be so chic ;)
I'm pretty obsessed with this skirt and the collar top I have underneath this cardigan. It was far to chilly to take off but I'll link at the end to each of the items. The pink ballet pumps have sparkly heels too!
This whole outfit came in at under £80 for everything which is pretty amazing.
Skirt / flats / cardigan / top

Gorgeous outfit and such a sweet little story about Tom setting the room up for you. We used to have those catalogues too. I loved the smell of Yves Rocher products. May have to order now for old times sake! Great comp too x
What a sweet gesture your other half did for you :), love the outfit too, really suits you x

It sounds like some really amazing products out there ...i love the idea of the floor .. we are in a semi with a couple that are permanently partying and it drives me bonkers! .. although they are super heavy footed normally too
I love the idea of magnetic plaster and silent floors. What great products! Love your photos x
You look great, I love the skirt! Mr C isn't remotely romantic either, although last year I didn't even remind him it was Valentine's Day and he got me a present for the first time which was nice. A SAMCRO t-shirt too which went down well ;) xx
I love the idea of magnetic walls. They would save me so much stress. I HATE my plasterboard walls
The magnetic walls are a brilliant idea! What a great and very inspirational day out - thank you for sharing with us!

I've wanted to go to The Shard for ages, what a view. Magnetic walls - how amazing!
Magnetic walls.....Just wow!
Wow - what a view. I would have found it difficult to concentrate on anything with that super view. I like the idea of magnetic walls and silent floors.
You do look really fab. Did you get to pick the clothes or did they just send a brilliant choice? x
What a lovely day off and I totally agree - having some adult time totally resets the mind and makes one more patient. I love your Joules coat by the way - the colour is amazing and how lovely does this cafe look!

I am obsessed with that skirt! Off to check out if my local LaRedoute carries it too.
Love that magnetic wall idea - my boys would love it and I can see me using it as a way to display my collection of postcards!
Sounds like you had a really fun day. I love your People Tree trousers - I'm tempted to get the top in the same pattern!
This outfit is so cute Fritha! :) La Redoute also brings me back memories, my grandma was an addict ;) she only was subscribed to this one, and when it arrived I played with her to guess what she was going to pick. The handmade flowers story is very sweet!
Sounds like a really fun day with fab views. Love the idea of magnetic walls!

I imagine it was quite chilly even in that cardigan! Beautiful choices. I love the skirt especially. I also love the idea of a coffee date! We're really lucky in having so much family around that we can do evenings but I often can't be bothered by the time I've put the kids to bed!
