If you follow me over on IG you might have seen that I've been over in Berlin during the weekend with my blogging pal Lori!
We were sent to the city to review some local food places so it was a bit of a mad rush to fit in 16 reviews within 3 days but it's given me a taste of the city and I definitely want to go back and show Tom and Wilf. Our hotel was Linnen via i-escape which was stunning (post to follow!).
We did manage to tick off a few places that we felt we couldn't really miss on a trip to the city. One of them being the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie. I didn't really know what I'd feel but looking through a gap in a piece of the wall gave me a lump in my throat. I've been watching footage of the wall coming down and trying to comprehend how crazy the world can be sometimes....more on that in another post I think!
The East Berlin style isn't one I am usually drawn to, industrial design and dark minimalist colours are the opposite of my colourful vintage (and probably quite flouncy) style so it was interesting to be noticeably the odd one out. It took us a day to realise the reason why people were staring at me was because of the slightly over the top amount of colour I was wearing! I pretty much stopped and took a picture of every pop of colour I could find.
Having said that I have to say I was surprised by how much I started to warm towards the feel of the place and I've found a new found love of concrete.
I made a teeny tiny video (I kept forgetting to film!) but just to give you a little taste of the places we visited. I'll write more soon about where we stayed and visited!
