Baking isn't quite baking unless your face is covered in icing and cake mixture right?
So yesterday Tom popped Wilf on the back of his bike and they waved me off on their way to nursery and breakfast club. I have to admit lately I've been really feeling exhausted when it comes to this pregnancy so I breathed a sigh of relief in bed and wondering when it would be appropriate for me to get out of it. Then I got a call at 8am to say nursery was actually closed today, whoops! In our defence there were a bunch of other parents there too who had no idea so that was a bit of a surprise!
We're teaming up with Ocean Spray for this post to celebrate injecting a bit of colour into your day (especially if it's a surprise opportunity for a bit of colour!). Nursery being shut was unplanned but as it happens it was just the thing I needed to brighten up my day and give us both an uplift, a bit like the bright colour of Ocean Spray, refreshing our plans for the day and putting smiles on our faces.
Ten minutes later Wilf was back home and demanding that we bake cakes today instead which seemed like a good an idea as any, with a three year old to entertain there wasn't really going to be a whole bunch of work done that day lets be honest.
Because my baking skills are somewhat limited we went for fairy cakes. I promised Wilf could choose the colour of the icing we made and he went for pink with as many sprinkles as allowed, plus a cherry on top. Just a little bit of sugar then ;)
I went for pink icing plus a bit of dedicated coconut for mine
And then we had a picnic on the carpet because that's what Friday's are for when nursery is closed!
I'm working with BritMums and Ocean Spray highlighting the everyday moments of colour that give each of us a little lift, just like Ocean Spray adds colour to our day and delights us all year round. I have been compensated for my time. All editorial and opinions are my own. Visit OceanSpray for more information.
