Thinking ahead to Spring and family get aways

Autumn is my favourite season, I think I've mentioned it before (maybe once or twice ;)). I love the layering clothes, the bobble hats, the colours of the leaves, the excuse for hot chocolate and the excitement building up to the holidays. Around this time of year I prepare for hunkering down for winter but I also start looking towards the new year and the plans I have for our family in them.

Over the past couple of years we have been really lucky in the amount of travel we've been able to squeeze in. This year has been a little different as I've been pregnant for most of it (I actually realised I've been pregnant in five different countries this time round!) and traveling hasn't always been as easy as it would be normally. I'm already thinking towards Spring next year and planning a getaway with my new family of four. Lots of friends with more than one child have told me that three to six months is probably the best time to travel with a baby so I'm hoping to get away as much as we can during these times. After that Wilf will be off to school also so we'll be a bit more limited.

We really fell in love with Portugal when we visited in August and it's somewhere we're keen to explore more. Although I'm not a massive fan of camping in this country I have really fond memories of camping in Portugal as a child. I recently discovered Yelloh! Village which has open-air hotels across France, Spain and Portugal and 5 star facilities which sounds much more up my street. Their site near Faro in the Algarve would be perfect, Wilf would be in heaven at the pool!

Although Wilf is still a teeny bit young they also have kids clubs which I have such great memories of going to as a kid. I think one of the main things that won me over is their wellness centres though, campsites have changed so much since I was little. I'd love to grab a facial or have dinner at the restaurants instead of always cooking for ourselves, they even have a bar!

What do you think of modern day camping like this? Are you a fan or do you think you could be converted if not?
