First time without the baby and a weekend away with Instagram friends - Watergate Bay

This time a few weeks ago I set of for a seaside adventure with three Instagramers (Porthjess, Monologue and Kymgrimshaw). I don't consider myself a massively confident person, I'm certainly an introvert and although I need to catch up with friends to feel sane I also massively crave time alone to recharge. I'm not good in large groups and although I love to travel I am a real home body at heart. All those things combined probably suggest that a weekend away with a group of women I didn't know very well would be a daunting experience. In actual fact it couldn't have been a nicer weekend with a nicer group of women. I'm left feeling so recharged and full of creative ideas that I can't wait to put into place.

I'm making out that I was nervous about this trip, in a way I was, it was the first time I was going to leave Mabli over night (for two nights) but when I realised who it was I would be going with I breathed a sigh of relief. Having chatted to these ladies online for (in some cases) years and met up with a couple of them already I just knew that it was a dynamic that would work well. All three of these women are inspiring to me in different ways and it was so so refreshing to be around people with no egos, who were eager to learn from each other, tell stories, listen and laugh together.

We were guests at Watergate Bay Hotel in Cornwall. A place which, when I mentioned on Instagram was met with so many comments from people about how this place had touched their heart in some way. In fact I don't think I've ever had so many messages from people about this place and stories about their time there. Having now spent a full weekend, I can see why it holds so many moments for so many and I'm already planning a trip back with the family.

I think it will be tricky for me to feature everything in this post but I'll try!
This picture is from the swim club chill out area. You can access it at all times as a guest but it's situated by the pool and spa area so the idea is that you head here to relax after a trip to either of those. I actually took my laptop and grabbed a coffee one morning and worked with the top picture as my view. Stunning!

My favourite place to eat was the The Living Space, we ate lunch their twice and it was brilliant. The atmosphere in particular was just to friendly and as you are allowed dogs in the hotel there were SO many cute pups to spot. I had a grilled cheese there and also a halloumi burger (separate occasions, ha!) I found both so filling I couldn't fit in pudding but they looked fantastic and it's yet another reason to return! Second favourite was definitely Zacry's were we had breakfast both mornings and then dinner on our last night there. Apparently everyone comes away dreaming about the waffles and I have to admit I miss them, they were SO good.

I think one of my favourite spots in the hotel was the pool, it definitely has the wow factor with its infinity pool and just felt so calm and beautiful. With a view out onto the blustery beach and ocean it was impossible to not feel blissed out. It also somehow managed to feel completely welcoming to families to with kids splashing around quietly at the bottom whilst we bobbed around at the deeper end chatting about anything and everything and feeling like we were old friends. Mona, Kym and I then braved it through the rain and wind a short distance from the pool to the hot tub, my vlog footage of that makes me laugh so much as we were literally yelling ahh against the wind before jumping in the gorgeous hot water of the tub.

I loved seeing details like this, sandy welly boots and buckets and spades by the front door! Another thing that was so lovely to see were all the dogs (and I'm not even a dog person) I could have sat and 'dog watched' all day long. I feel like Watergate Bay gets just the right balance between luxury with a chilled out vibe.

One of the reasons I really want to return with Tom and the kids is just how set up they are for families. Their childcare is ran by fully qualified staff and you can hire them to watch your kids in the evening whilst you enjoy a uninterrupted meal or drop them off at the kids clubs in the day whilst you take a dip in the pool, bliss!

This was my room which was actually a family suite.

How cute are those bunkbeds?

Lunch at the Living Space

One of the most impressive aspects of the hotel is their infinity pool. I took these pictures at 7.30am before I filled myself up with waffles so it looks quite dark but I think you can still tell how stunning it is.

Talking about waffles...

We went for tapas night at The Beach Hut on our first evening which involved a five course tasting menu and delicious cocktails. I think I preferred the food at The Living Space but the cocktails were amazing, I could have easily got through a lot of those ha! I actually came back on our last day for a cup of tea and view of the sea, such a beautiful spot.

I made a little vlog of my time away, apologies in advance as its mainly me moaning about expressing ha! I do feature the hotel too though and there is quite a funny bit of me, Mona and Kym running to the hot tub in the rain so it's worth a watch ;)

Thanks to Watergate Bay for inviting us here, I'll be back for sure!
