Veggie Eating In Porto

This has been such a highly requested post and it's taken 6 months of nagging Tom to finally post it. I would say that one, he actually offered when we were out there and two, he takes more notice of details when it comes to posts like this. I'm more like 'mmm that was yummy!' the end.

Anyway, if you are visiting Porto (and you should!) and are veggie (or not) here is where you should eat.

Porto is not only a great city to visit for the sights, but also a great city to eat in. There is a plethora of cafes, bars, and restaurants, and it’s a compact city that is easy to stroll around (although it is hilly, we’re used to that in Bristol). The first three of these places are vegan and within about a minutes walk of each other :)

Black Mamba - vegan burgers
This place is a record shop and vegan burger bar. I enjoyed browsing the records whilst waiting for our burgers (efficient use of time :)). If it was in East London it would probably end up being some sort of super-hipster hangout, but in Porto, it’s just a really nice chilled out place (with great burgers).|

O Burrito
Lovely little Mexican restaurant that also does takeaway. Delicious freshly made burritos with a range of options to suit everyone's tastes.

DUH! Vegan donuts
Sadly this place was closed whilst we were in Porto as the owners were on holiday. Please, can someone eat there and let me know if it’s as great as I suspect. Then I’ll have another reason to visit Porto again!

Bao’s Taiwanese burgers
This place was recommended to me by a friend living in Porto, and I’m really glad she did. I got takeaway from here on New Year's Eve when we foolishly hadn’t bought enough food and most shops were closed. They were really friendly and had a few veggie options. The bao’s were massive!

Da Terra (Porto & Foz)
This place is a must-visit! A huge vegetarian buffet with regularly changing dishes. I think I could probably eat here every day for a year and not get bored. We liked it so much that we also visited the branch in For after a trip to the beach.

Armazem
This place is actually a warehouse with lots of little vintage shops, but it also has a cafe/bar. Perfect for enjoying a cold beer and a spot of lunch after all that vintage shopping. Especially if you choose a place outside in the sun. Extra bonus points awarded for having a really friendly cat that looked like a young (and thin) Rockie (please insert cat face emoji).
