What We Wore - Emily the Pemily

My pal EmilythePemily was kind enough to send Wilf this baby grow when she found out we were expecting....so I had to go ahead and kit Tom and I out in the same!
We had a bunch of fun acting like big sillies

The funniest part it we forgot we were all dressed matchy matchy and headed out to the shops all dressed up like this!
p.s can you believe ten weeks ago that chubby used to be in my tummy? He's so big now! So crazy!

A little update

Hi There!
Sorry for the absence, we were hit with a double whammy of viruses! After our few days of the sickness bug we had approximately two days of rest before a different strain went and kicked our asses. It was..trying I tell you.
After we started to feel better we sat on the sofa in a sort of shell shocked state and Tom told me I was hero..then I sobbed for about five minutes straight. Certainly the hardest week for a long long while..
Tuesday my mum came to visit for a few days. As my family live six hours away the last time she was able to see Wilf was when he was just a little over a week old so he's changed quite a lot since then! I feel so proud of my little boy, every day he surprises me with something new. He can now firmly grab and hit his mobiles, he is enthralled when you read to him and my gosh he loves baths.
We have started sharing baths the past few days Wilf and I, we bathed together a few hours after he was born but hadn't got round to it since then. I bought Burts Bee's baby bubble bath and he lies on me splashing away. I swear we even heard a proper giggle the other day (sure I know he's not supposed to be able to for another month but still..advanced y'know ;) )
I have been reading more of my 'What mothers do, especially when it looks like nothing' book and feeling more and more reassured in my capabilities as a mama. I am feeling comforted with the notion that babies have a 'rhythm' and not a 'routine'.
Our house it still a mess and there is always washing to do but I think we are getting into the swing of things now. I don't think I have ever felt happier!

Two months old

I can not believe this little baby is two months old already! Where that time has gone I have no idea. This month we have been looking at shapes (he loves his black and white books) he is interested in toys more and he smiles so much! He tries really hard to suck his thumb, its the cutest thing as he will look at his hand, bring it closer to his face until he is cross eyed..and then just miss it!
He loves music and will smile when I sing to him and coo along with the tune, he can hold his head up by himself now and look around at different noises. The other day he focussed properly on our cat Maddie and beamed!
Sometimes the days can become repetitive, whilst I feel like i've been non stop I find I cant really explain what we've done with our day. I started reading the book 'what mothers do, especially when it looks like nothing', two chapters in and I was crying happy tears. This mama thing is overwhelming sometimes and it can feel like 'you've got nothing done' because the house is a mess and you haven't got the groceries. The thing is what you have been doing is looking after your child, interacting, teaching, playing and loving and all these things are 'getting things done' and much more important! I feel so honoured to be this little baby's mama.
Oh and those pictures just make me laugh so much, he looks like a chubby little hamster!

I meant to write a lovely post yesterday about this man. Turns out me and my valentine were due a lovely romantic day together...being sick!
Tom and I both came down with the winter vomiting virus in the early hours of Tuesday morning, frankly it was horrendous. We had never factored in both of us being ill at the same time and how we would look after a baby whilst taking it turns to be sick, it was hard, especially breastfeeding when you cant keep any liquid down..
Tom was more organised and made me a card the day before, I also got one from Wilfryd and the cats seemed to have made one for each other too.. A creative bunch my family ;)
