DIY Bath Bombs
As many of you know I am fairly addicted to the the beautiful site that is Pinterest, honestly I could while away hours pinning DIY projects, photography, fashion and my biggest addiction, illustrations I love. I also have a board named ‘cruelty free beauty‘ where I pin all the beauty DIY’s I hope to make when I have the time!
I mentioned in this post that I want to get into DIY projects more and record them here on my blog. Recently I have made, cup lanterns, peg dolls and even homemade deodorant. It is the latter than really made me want to try some more natural beauty DIY’s and something I really love to treat myself to are bath products. It didn’t take me long to find tons of inspiration on Pinterest for this particular craft so I thought I would give them a go myself and let you know how I got on!
DIY Bath Bombs
You will need:
68g Citric Acid
136g Baking Soda
96g Corn Flour
34g Fair trade cane sugar
15 drops of essential oil
6 drops of natural food colouring
ice cube tray, spray bottle, storage jar
All ingredients bar the essential oil, ice cube tray and spray bottle were bought at Tesco. I got the oil and spray bottle from Boots and the ice cube trays from IKEA.
mix together citric acid, corn flour and baking powder in a bowl then stir in sugar
fill the spray bottle with water and around 6 drops of food colouring and start to spray the mixture. You not looking for the mixture to become wet enough that it will start to fizz but it needs to be damp enough to pack the mixture with your hands
when you are happy with the consistency start to pack it into the ice cube trays
Let it firm overnight in a cool temperature then pop them out and place in your jar and you are done!
In all honestly I think my mixture was perhaps not wet enough when packing so was quite crumbly when I took them our of their trays, so I lost a few in the process. I’m pretty pleased with my first attempt though and was really surprised at just how easy there were to make. I think they would make really lovely homemade gifts for christmas so will be trying this recipe out again soon I’m sure!
