The Jardin de Luxembourg is one of the most beautiful places in Paris and it’s also a great place to take the kids sailing boats! We had a wonderful day out in the sun and the kids had a blast sailing around the park. If you’re visiting Paris with kids, or if you’re looking for a great place to sailboats, the Jardin de Luxembourg is definitely worth a visit!

When we decided to visit Paris I told Tom that there were two things I wanted to do. Visit the Pont de L’Archeveche (the love lock bridge – post to come) and sailboats with Wilf at Jardin de Luxembourg. I mean call me basic but these places are tourist spots for a reason!
Jardin de Luxembourg
On our way to sailboats, Tom and Wilf got into a game of chase, round and round a pillar they ran with Wilf squealing with joy. I stood and watched them taking in the scene, the beautiful day, the sun shining on our faces, and nothing ahead of us but enjoying ourselves.
A lady walked past and stopped and watched the scene with me, she gasped and held her hand to her chest, and exclaimed in French that he was adorable. After she had started to speak to me (and realised I couldn’t speak French!) she switched to English telling me how ‘chic’ and cute he was and how seeing us had made her day. She took our picture and Wilf got really into posing and pointing out his outfit ‘look at my hat’ and mine too ‘my mummy’s got tights!’ and then she left us to our day.

I can’t tell you how much my heart burst with pride at that moment, it was one of those ‘wait! you see it too?’. My little boy, my family, how lucky we all are. Thank you to the french lady who saw the beauty in our moment, I will look back and smile at that moment in times to come.
And so come the boats, the beautiful afternoon we sat and ate macarons on the bench, paid two euros and were the only three to push our boats around the pond whilst an elderly gentleman dozed in deck chairs and young couples laughed together.
Can I freeze the day and come back to it always?
