I wrote part one of Amsterdam with kids a while ago with the intention of part two following soon after, then somehow with this and that weeks flew by and I suddenly came across a picture and remembered I still had so much to share with you!
Amsterdam with kids
We spent three days in Amsterdam and on day three in the city we headed to Vondelpark. My only regret from our visit was that we didn’t have a full day in which to enjoy it. Wilf was in his element and I can imagine heading there and spending hours just chilling out and grabbing lunch or coffee from one of the restaurants within it. Vondelpark is massive with lots of different sections for different ages children as well as cute bridges over streams and large grassy areas.
Oh, Vondelpark in Amsterdam is like that one friend’s garden that everyone wishes was theirs. It’s sprawling, green, and just screams for a family picnic. I remember letting the kids loose there, and for a moment, amidst the duck-chasing and the laughter, life felt utterly carefree. There’s something so comforting about watching your little ones marvel at the simple joys of nature. Plus, there’s enough space for them to run wild while you sit back with a cuppa or maybe join them in a game of tag (because, let’s face it, we’re all just big kids at heart, right?). Vondelpark is that perfect city escape, a little oasis where memories are waiting to be made.
We forgot to pick up bits for a picnic so instead cut our time there short and jumped on a tram back to the centre for lunch. After which we mooched about a little more stopping for coffee or popping into shops.
We knew we wanted to check out the famous library before we got our flight and it didn’t disappoint! It is quite literally the most amazing library I’ve ever been in.
You know, discovering the Amsterdam Central Library was like stumbling upon a hidden gem in the heart of our bustling city life. Imagine this: a place where you can actually hear your own thoughts, amidst the chaos of parenting and the never-ending to-do lists. This isn’t just any library; it’s a sanctuary where stories come alive, not only for us but for our little adventurists too.
Walking into the library, the first thing that hits you is the sheer space – it’s massive, airy, and so welcoming. With floors upon floors of books, it feels like you’ve stepped into a different world, one where time slows down just enough for you to catch your breath. The children’s section? Oh, it’s a dream! Picture cozy reading nooks, vibrant picture books that stretch as far as the eye can see.
But here’s the kicker – this place has more than just books. There’s a café where you can sip on the most comforting cup of coffee while your kiddos explore. And the view from the top floor? Not only coffee but pizza and a smoothie bar!
