Easy Collage Ideas For Kids of all ages

Collage Ideas

A few people over on Insta have asked me to pop some of the arts and crafts activities I’ve been doing with the kids so I thought I’d share some collage ideas for kids. These are super easy to do, even with pre-schoolers and I think they come out so great.

Easy collage ideas for kids

First up all you need to do is paint some pieces of paper, I actually came across doing this type of collage accidentally as I was having a bit of a rubbish morning. I took out the paints just as a mindful activity and started doing some watercolours and then acrylic. I added some patterns after the initial paint dried and then cut out shapes for the kids to use.

Apologies for the lack of step by step images, I didn’t actually intend to turn this into a blog post so I just have what I used for IG stories. I ended up making a flower out of mine because my imagination doesn’t really stretch so far at the moment but the kids always come up with much better ideas.

Only Mabli joined in with this little art session and she made the cutest little animals. This tiger is my absolute favourite. I tended to just cut the painted patterns into random shapes. For my flower, I knew wanted certain shapes so pre-cut them but in hindsight, I think random shapes would have been better. I think they have a certain ‘Eric Carle’ vibe about them which I love.

These are the finished creations. I helped cut out the word cats but Mabli and Mabli requested a whale shape for the other but mostly they were done at random. Apart from waiting for paint to dry it was pretty easy to set up and occupied her for ages. Hope this helped give anyone ideas for a simple kids craft. Let me know on Instagram if you do try it out, you can find me there under Tigerlillyquinn.
