Berlin in a Weekend

Three days in Berlin has given me a taste of the city and I definitely want to go back and show Tom and Wilf. Our hotel was Linnen via i-escape. We did manage to tick off a few places that we felt we couldn’t really miss on a trip to the city. One of them being the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie. I didn’t really know what I’d feel but looking through a gap in a piece of the wall gave me a lump in my throat. I’ve been watching footage of the wall coming down and trying to comprehend how crazy the world can be sometimes.

The East Berlin style isn’t one I am usually drawn to, industrial design and dark minimalist colours are the opposite of my colourful vintage (and probably quite flouncy) style so it was interesting to be noticeably the odd one out. It took us a day to realise the reason why people were staring at me was because of the slightly over-the-top amount of colour I was wearing! I pretty much stopped and took a picture of every pop of colour I could find.

Having said that I have to say I was surprised by how much I started to warm towards the feel of the place and I’ve found a newfound love of concrete. If you would like to see more Berlin content then read posts here.
