A Fantastic Weekend at 100 Queens Gate Hotel

We were invited to the 100 Queens Gate Hotel to try out their Little Explorers package which (spoiler) I honestly can’t recommend enough. Read on to find out what this package involves at this Kensington hotel and what we got up to during our stay. It’s also worth noting all guests use a video thermometer on arrival at the hotel to check temp, there are hand sanitiser spots throughout the building, and masks are used in all communal areas. Being a four minute walk from the Natural History Museum the 100 Queens Gate Hotel is perfect for a trip for the kids to cram in some culture. The Little Explores package come with an adventure backpack for each child on arrival. These included toys from the museum, a 100 Queen’s Gate teddy to keep, and child-friendly toiletries in each room. It really is set up so perfectly for children and they were amazed to receive their packs on arrival. It was these little touches that made our stay so memorable and the gifts from the museum were much used (ours came with a travel microscope and dinosaur construction model)

The Little Explores Package

When you book the Little Explores Package you can stay in a two-bed interconnecting family room. However, if the hotel has availability (which it did when we arrived) this is automatically upgraded to an interconnecting Duplex Suite. If you happen to book by the 31st of October you are eligible for a complimentary second night for stays before the 30th of April 2021!

One of the things we loved about staying at the 100 Queens Gate Hotel was that we were able to check in early from 10 am. We traveled up on the train and arrived at 10.30 and were able to chill out with a coffee before heading out to explore the museum. Equally, we were able to take advantage of the packages late checkout and extended from 12 to 2 pm (we could have stayed until 4 pm if needed). This was so refreshing as we never felt hurried and were able to chill in our suite in between adventuring on both days.

The hotel itself was just beautiful. We stayed in Robert Falcon Scott suite which was decorated in theme with his adventures and similar suits following famous pioneers.

Another plus of the package is that you also receive £50 to spend in the hotel (this covered dinner for us all) and also two children’s vouchers each to be redeemed against hot chocolate/ice cream or popcorn. Breakfast also comes free and can be taken either in the restaurant or in your room. Children under five also receive a free meal with paying adults.

Did I mention the cocktails?? SO SO GOOD

I can also confess to having pretty much the best nights sleep (I usually wake up a lot in new places) and taking not one but two baths! I love a hotel bathroom and was very happy to find Floris in the bathroom and The White Company in the shower room. It’s the little details often that really add those special elements of comfort.

We ate at the bar in the evening and there were lots of veggie options for both adults and children. I went for the green lasagne, Tom for the aubergine pasta and the kids had macaroni and pizza. Their cocktail menu was also super impressive although we were very responsible and stopped at one.

I would recommend a trip to the 100 Queens Gate Hotel in Kensington. Not only is it perfectly placed for a trip to the museums as central London hotels go (I will write about our visits in a separate post) but I genuinely think it is such a special package for families. The staff were wonderful and SO family friendly and the attention to detail meant our stay will always be very fondly remembered.
