Have you ever thought of visiting a cat cafe but weren’t sure about whether it was ok ethically or not? We did a bunch of research about Cat Cafes in London to see if we felt comfortable with one and came across Java Whiskers in Marlybone. If you’re a fan of furry felines and a good cup of coffee, this is the place for you. My eight-year-old is obsessed with cats and her favourite pastime is scrolling pictures of all the different breeds. We knew she would love to visit a cat cafe one day so Tom treated her with a trip during our visit to the city. Let me share our experience of Cat Cafes in London with you, so grab a cozy seat and let me whisk you away to this cat lover’s haven.
Cat Cafes in London

Located in the heart of London, Java Whiskers is a haven for both humans and cats alike. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the friendly purrs and playful antics of the resident cats. The cafe is beautifully designed with cozy seating areas and plenty of space for the cats to roam and relax. It’s a peaceful and tranquil environment, perfect for unwinding with a hot cup of coffee and some cat cuddles.
Cat Rescue

The concept behind a cat cafe is simple- it’s a place where you can enjoy a drink and a white to eat while also spending quality time with adorable and adoptable cats. The primary goal of Java Whiskers is to provide a safe and comfortable space for these cats to socialize and interact with people, with the bonus of potentially finding forever homes.
The Java Whiskers team takes great care of their resident cats, ensuring they have everything they need to thrive and be happy. All of the cats are rescue cats, and the cafe works closely with local animal shelters to give these furry pals a second chance at a loving home. You can even inquire about adopting one of the cats if you feel a special connection with a particular feline friend during your visit.

In this Cat Cafe there are two rooms, the kitten room and the cat room. The kitten room is for over tens only and the cat room is for six and above. The cafe also only allows a small amount of customers in at a time so as not to overwhelm the cats. They also have lots of spaces to climb out of reach of people and there is a strict ‘no picking up’ rule (you are ok to slightly pick up a cat if they are walking onto your lap).
The cakes Java Whiskers is also great and you can also book afternoon tea which would make for a great gift to a cat-obsessed friend. They also cater to vegans (which was a double plus for my dairy free daughter)
But the real star of the show at Java Whiskers is, of course, the cats. Each one of these furry friends has a unique personality and charm. Some may be quick to greet you with a gentle head boop, while others may prefer to observe from a distance. It’s a cat lover’s dream come true to share a moment of connection and affection with these beautiful creatures.
The cafe follows strict hygiene guidelines to ensure the well-being of both the cats and the visitors. Guests are kindly asked to follow the cafe’s rules, such as refraining from picking up the cats or disturbing them while they are sleeping. The team at Java Whiskers is always on hand to provide guidance and answer any questions you may have about interacting with the cats.
One of the things that stood out to me during my visit to Java Whiskers is the sense of community. Not only is it a place to enjoy the company of cats, but it’s also a space where like-minded individuals can come together to share their love for these creatures. Whether you’re a long-time cat owner, a passionate advocate for animal welfare, or simply someone looking for a relaxing and unique experience, we were really impressed with this Cat Cafe.
In conclusion, if you are looking for Cat Cafes in London then Java Whiskers cat cafe is a must-visit for all cat lovers. It’s a peaceful and inviting space where you can enjoy a delicious cup of coffee, indulge in some tasty treats, and spend quality time with adorable and adoptable cats. It’s a place that not only gives these rescue cats a chance to find loving homes but also provides a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. So why not treat yourself to a little feline therapy, although be warned you may just leave with a heart full of joy and a newfound furry pal by your side.
