You may have noticed that Wilf has a new ride lately. we’ve been using the Cosatto Ooba for a little over a month now so I thought it would be a good time to write about how we are finding it. I actually really loved our old pushchair when Wilf younger (we got it when he was just over a year) but unfortunately as he got older he stopped being able to fit in it parent-facing which is something that was quite important to me.
The Ooba comes in two colours, ‘marzipan’ and ‘duck egg’, I actually think both are quite neutral for either sex. I have a real thing for yellow at the moment so I almost went for that one but then realised I have one too many yellow dresses so could lead to rather embarrassing matching your pushchair moments. I also really loved the geometric print running through the duck egg chair (bang on trend Cosatto!), it really is a rather stylish design.
I’ve always wanted to have a chair with a foot muff like this one and had previously been annoyed at myself for not getting one when he was little. Although the weather is much too nice to be using it over the past two weeks we did manage to sneak some use out of it in early April .Doesn’t he look cosy?
The Ooba is a really clever design that allows for forward-facing and parent facing adjustments. What I love it that if you did want to to suddenly change which way your child faced you just need to press a button and flip the handle all the way over. We’ve used this a couple of times when going to feed the ducks, it’s such a simple but effective way of combating this issue I can’t believe more pushchairs don’t do this!
The pushchair itself it very lightweight but sturdy and it really simple to fold down if needs be (we don’t drive but occasionally I’ve done this on the train or bus). By taking the seat off and twisting the handle below the entire chair can be folded down in minutes. The brake for the chair is situated on the handle which I think it a neat idea, it took me a little while to remember it was there instead of down on the wheels like previous pushchairs I have owned but once you get used to it it’s actually a lot easier being right by your hand as you stroll along.
The only slight issue we have found it that it doesn’t seem to mount curbs as easily as our previous chair and does require that extra push which sometimes means we run into a standstill when going over bumps. I think this might be down to the compactness and isn’t really a big issue once you’ve remembered to push that little bit harder in preparation for the side of the pavement etc.
The basket underneath the chair is a great size and we use it for the change bag and panda whenever we are off on adventures. I actually love the bag that comes with it and even use it when I’m not doing mum things as it doubles as the perfect laptop bag too!
The Ooba is actually a travel system so comes with a pram attachment, clearly, we have no use for this currently but it comes in the same stylish design and is a good size. It doesn’t come with a car seat but this wouldn’t have been an issue for us being that neither of us drives and we travel in a car around twice a year! You can buy a car seat separately though (compatible with the ‘Hold Isofix’ base and ‘Hold’ base if you are after one).
I am really impressed with how well the Cosatto Ooba seats Wilf at two and a half as lots of pushchairs I have seen really don’t seem big enough. Clearly two and a half years old can walk but not a great distance so if we still do always take the pushchair on our trips out.
