Where was Harry Potter Born?

First, let’s visit the home of Harry’s parents, Lily and James Potter. Their humble abode can be found at 21 Church Street, just a short walk from the church that is around the corner. Although it’s a private residence today, fans can still appreciate the beauty of the quaint home that inspired the Potters’ home in Godric’s Hollow.

Next, we have Professor Slughorn’s house. This stunning red brick house featured in the sixth film, and can be found at 4-6 Chapel Hill. Fans may remember it as the location of the Slug Club Christmas party. Today, it’s a privately owned residence, but its beauty and charm remain for all to see.

Lacock Abbey – Harry Potter Filming Locations

Finally, we have Lacock Abbey itself. This historic building has been featured in several Harry Potter films, including The Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets. It served as the interior of Hogwarts School, including the location for Professor Snape’s classrooms and the entrance to the Hogwarts Library. Founded in the 13th century, Lacock National Trust property is open to the public, with beautiful gardens and fascinating exhibitions on the history of the Abbey.

Don’t be fooled into thinking the cauldron is a leftover prop from the Harry Potter films. It’s called the Mechil Pot and is said to be dated back to the 1500s and used as a cooking pot by the nuns at the time.

But there’s more to Lacock than Harry Potter. This picturesque village is steeped in history and charm, with narrow cobbled streets lined with beautiful historic homes and buildings. The village itself dates back to the 13th century, and much of its original architecture remains intact today. We had brunch in The Angel Inn and can highly recommend the pancakes.

Visitors can also enjoy a stroll along the tranquil banks of the River Avon, or take a walk through the scenic fields that surround the village. And for those looking to explore further, the nearby town of Chippenham offers easy access to the rest of Wiltshire and the beautiful countryside that surrounds it.
