Disclaimer – This was a post about our stay with Ready Camp in the Camping and Caravanning Club location in Devizes Wiltshire. The Ready Camp/Glamping element is no longer part of this campsite however I hope you will find the information in this post helpful for your camping or caravanning holiday!
You know how I’m always on the lookout for our next little family adventure, something that’s a bit of fun, a bit different, and packed with those cherished memory-making moments? This post is about our fabulous experience at the Camping and Caravanning Club Devizes and their utterly charming ‘Ready Camp’ safari tent glamping sites. Oh, and trust me, it’s a good one!

First things first, let’s set the scene, shall we? Imagine the rolling hills of the Wiltshire countryside, where the air is as fresh as it gets and where the night sky puts on a twinkling light show that not even the best special effects can replicate. This is where we decided to set up camp, or rather, glamp, thanks to the ‘Ready Camp’ glamping sites offered by the Camping and Caravanning Club Devizes camping ground.
Camping and Caravanning Club – Ready Camp Glamping
First things first I’ve often said I’m no ‘camper’ so the the word ‘ UK glamping’ itself is like a warm, inviting hug to me. It promises all the joys of camping – the great outdoors, the getting back to nature, the stories under the stars – but with a cosy twist that means you’re not wrestling with tent pegs or waking up at the crack of dawn with a sore back. And when looking up the Camping and Caravan club Sites the Devizes Ready Camp location really delivers on that promise!

Safari Tent Glamping
Our safari tent was a spacious canvas abode standing proudly upon a wooden platform, inviting us to come in and make ourselves at home. The moment we unzipped the door and stepped inside, it was clear this was going to be a camping experience like no other.
These tents are like Aladdin’s cave of comfort. Real beds, people! With actual mattresses that promise uninterrupted sleep. It’s worth noting that bedding is not provided however so you need to bring your duvets or sleeping bags and pillows! There’s a dining area where you can gather for dinner or a game of Uno, and a little kitchenette that has everything you need to whip up some lovely meals. Because, let’s be honest, a happy camping trip is directly proportional to the yumminess of the food, right?

But here’s the thing about glamping at Ready Camp in Devizes – it’s not just about the delightful tents; it’s about the whole experience. The site itself is nestled in such a picturesque part of the country that you could spend your days just wandering around, soaking in the views. And let’s not forget the warm, welcoming community vibe from the Camping and Caravanning Club Devizes. They made us feel like part of the family from the moment we arrived.
The kids, oh, the kids were in their absolute element. Between exploring the great outdoors, making friends with fellow mini adventurers, and exciting nighttime walks amongst the stars to the toilet block. I saw their little souls light up with the pure joy of freedom and the magic of nature. There’s something about being out in the fresh air, with grass underfoot and a sky above that seems to stretch on forever, that brings out the best in all of us, don’t you think?
I was a little worried about how the onsite shower block and toilets would be but I couldn’t have been happier with how clean they felt. The water was warm and it felt really safe to walk across from our tent for those midnight trips for a wee!

Where to visit near Devizes Wiltshire
But it’s not just about staying on-site. The location is perfect for exploring some of Wiltshire’s gems. We had a fantastic day down the road in Lacock which you can read about here. Perfect for Harry Potter fans as so many film locations are based there. It’s also less than an hour from beautiful Bath which is always worth a trip too. We used our National Trust pass to visit Lacock Abbey which had loads of child-friendly activities including a treasure hunt on the grounds.

Evenings at Ready Camp were something special too. We’d sit outside, wrapped up in blankets, hot chocolate in hand, sharing stories, playing games, and basking in the glow of a day well spent. It’s in these simple moments, amidst the laughter and the shared experiences, that the magic of family really comes to life. It’s also worth noting that you can also order fish and chip from the local chippy who will then deliver them to the site. They did a fantastic battered halloumi!
Facilities at Devizes Ready Camp
The shop on site sells all the essentials you might need and as it was particularly beautiful weather when we arrived we took advantage of bribing the kids with ice creams at the end of each day of exploring. The site is also located a short walk along the towpath on the Avon and Kennet Canal to a brilliant pub called ‘The Barge Inn’ that looks out on the water.

Camping and Caravanning Club – A Holiday to Remember
And you know, as I sat there, watching our children giggle and chatter against the backdrop of a starlit sky, I couldn’t help but think how precious these times are. How wonderful it is to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and just be. To connect, to slow down, to remember what’s truly important. This experience, this gloriously comfortable, heartwarmingly fun glamping adventure at the Camping and Caravanning Club Devizes was a reminder of just that.
In the end, our Ready Camp glamping trip was more than just a holiday. It was a real memory maker and the perfect mix of glamping and camping that really felt like an adventure without having to skip on any of lives comforts.
So, to all my fellow explorers, adventurers, and seekers of family moments wrapped in the beauty of nature and the comfort of a home away from home, I cannot recommend the Ready Camp safari tents in Devizes enough. As glamping holidays go it’s up there with some of our favourites. It’s a place where you can find joy in the simple things, where laughter fills the air, and where magic moments are around every corner.
